Opponents cornered government on closure of schools issue

Nagpur – Education Minister Vinod Tawade’s announcement to close 1300 schools in the state has irked the opponents. The issue was raised in the state legislative council, upper house of the assembly today, which resulted in disturbance of the working, due to opposition parties stalled the functioning of house, it was adjourned twice. By closing 1300 schools in the state, the government is destroying education system of the state, alleged Kapil Patil, Shrikant Deshpande, Dr. Sudhir Tambe, Vikram Kale, Nago Ganar, etc.

Education Minister Vinod Tawade tried to defuse the situation by stating that the schools are not being closed, instead they will be merged with other schools in 1 km area, owing to low attendance. He also claimed that it will not harm students’ study. But the opponents were not happy with his answer and the commotion continued for some time.
