Rahul Gandhi Take Over as Congress President

New Delhi – Rahul Gandhi took over reins of Congress Party as its 45th President today. In a function organized at AICC office today morning, Sonia Gandhi passed baton to her son. In his first speech as president, Rahul Gandhi criticized BJP and its policies. BJP is dividing the country, and we are bringing it together, he said. He cautioned the youth of the country about divisive politics of the ruling party. He also warned BJP that their tactics will backfire on them too. He said that his party will fight hate with love.

Outgoing president Sonia Gandhi also criticized BJP for its divisive politics. Rahul has faced violence right from his childhood that had made him a strong person, she said. Further, after him entering into politics he has to face vicious personal attacks which have made him fearless, she told the gathering of congress leaders and workers. However she stopped herself from further praising him saying that he being her son, she should refrain from doing so.

Before him, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh congratulated Rahul for his elevation at top post. He said that the country has great hopes from Rahul Gandhi.
