BJP loses badly in Thane

Thane – BJP has lost badly in Thane ZP elections. Out of 53 seats, with the help of NCP and Congress, Shiv Sena won 26, NCP won 10, Congress won 1 seat whereas BJP could manage win at only 14 seats, despite applying its forces. Now Shiv Sena and NCP will come together to run the ZP.

This is the second defeat of BJP in last few months in Thane district. Congress had won Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation with clear majority, Shiv Sena captured second place, while BJP remained at third spot. Similarly, BJP has lost Nanded Municipal Corporation couple of months back. In Nanded too Shiv Sena and Congress were hand in gloves.

Now there are talks about similar pattern for Assembly and Parliamentary elections. Due to ideological difference and past history, it is not easy for two parties to come together openly. But Shiv Sena can have tacit understanding with Congress and NCP according to local situation to defeat BJP. According to one Shiv Sena leader, on condition of anonymity, revealed his assessment as Shiv Sena can win only 4 to 5 seats on its own strength, but they can cause defeat of BJP on at least 16 seats. If this comes true, coming elections in the state will be interesting to watch!
