National Anthem in Theaters is not compulsory now

New Delhi – Supreme Court has ruled that now onwards playing National Anthem in theaters will not be compulsory. The Supreme Court has accepted central government’s suggestion on this issue, which was in favor of discontinuing with the current practice. According to a 2016 order of Supreme Court, playing National Anthem was made mandatory in Cinema Theaters before screening of the movie.

However, this was widely criticized siting the reason that people go to theaters for entertainment and that is not the place to portray for one’s patriotism. Also some instances were recorded when mob attacked an individual for not standing up during the National Anthem. Considering all points the center has suggested that now onwards playing National Anthem in theaters will not be compulsory.
