Congress demands 50,000 per hectare for hailstorm hit farmers

Parbhani – Congress state president Ashok Chavan has demanded that the state government should pay Rs. 50,000 per hectare as compensation to hailstorm hit farmers. Chavan made the demand in a press conference organized here today. He criticized state as well central government heavily for being insensitive towards farmers.

Chavan claimed that crops on more than 2 lakhs hectare land has been damaged due to hailstorm and unseasonal heavy rain in which 7 people died and more than 30 persons injured. The government has assured to start inspection within 48 hours, but now it’s more than 72 hours but the government is yet to act, said former Chief Minister.
