Ashok Chavan to remain as MPCC Chief

Mumbai – Congress has decided to retain former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan as Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. Congress president Rahul Gandhi issued the decision in a meeting of National Indian Congress that was conducted in New Delhi today. It was also decided to retain the Maharashtra Pradesh Executive Committee.

After the changes at national leadership in the Congress, it was expected to bring changes in the state leadership too. But that did not happen. Ashok Chavan has won the confidence of the central leadership by first winning Lok Sabha seat in Nanded in 2014, and retaining power in Nanded Municipal Corporation towards the end of last year.
